Eleanor P. Smith, 91, of Carlisle and formerly of Newville, passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022. She was born January 24, 1931, in Ligonier to the late James Edward and Mary Emma (Wilson) Hoffer. Eleanor was the widow of Gerald C. Smith. Eleanor is survived by one daughter, Patricia A. A native of Oneida, NY, Janet was born on May 2, 1924 to the late Albert and Ruth Covell and was blessed with a brother and three sisters whom she treasured. Janet graduated from Syracuse University in 1945 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and enjoyed a lifelong connection with several of her sorority sisters via a chain letter. Don was born in 1934 in Frederick, (MD) and moved to The Villages (FL) in 2005. He graduated from Frederick (MD) High School in 1952 and served nearly three years in the U.S. Army Security Agency in Europe, including almost two years in the divided city of Berlin.
