Harley C. Morton of Elkhart, Indiana, formerly a long-time resident of rural Fort Madison, Iowa, passed away at his home on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at the age of 75 years. A devout follower of Christ, Harley was a devoted husband, admirable father, engaging grandfather, and friend to man. He was born November 16, 1946, and married his loving wife, Janet (Rose) Morton, on March 14, 1970. Harley attended Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ in Denmark, Iowa for more than 65 years where he was an active member and Sunday school teacher. L.R. Van Spry, 76, of Odon, Indiana, went to Heaven on Monday, September 21, 2020 at Daviess Community Hospital in Washington. Van was born on April 7, 1944 in Carthage, Missouri to Charles M. and Juanita (Wright) Spry, he was the last of their twelve children to survive. Van married the love of his life Joy Lee (Buterbaugh) Spry on August 5, 1964. Van retired in 1995 as a Chief Engineer at Atlantic Richfield Company and then he attended Louisville Bible College to become a minister. Van was also a semi-pro baseball player at one time. LANCASTER - Daniel G. "Dan" Atkinson, age 63 of Lancaster, passed away Friday, September 11, 2020 at his residence. He was born July 30, 1957, the son of Grant and Irma (Hollenberger) Atkinson. Dan graduated Lancaster High School in 1975. After graduation, Dan owned the Texaco station and farmed with his father, Grant. On May 27, 1978, he was united in marriage to Cindy S. McCartney at the Lancaster United Methodist Church. He continued farming and purchased his parents' farm in 1998.
