The Rev. Vergil Lacy (V.L.) Daughtery Jr. passed away peacefully at his home after a short illness on June 8, 2022, surrounded by family. He was born in Adel, GA, on January 11, 1934, where he was a graduate of the public schools of Cook County and played fullback on the Cook High School 1949 state championship football team. He was in the last graduating class from the junior college Emory at Valdosta, where he earned an Associate of Arts with honors. He also earned a bachelor's degree with honors from Valdosta State University (VSU) with a major in History and a minor in English. He earned a Master of Divinity, magna cum laude, from Emory University's Candler School of Theology in 1958. ...

Edward Charles Schwab, 78, formally of Arden, NC, passed away at his home in Corryton, TN on May 17, 2022. Ed served in the US Air Force Reserves during Vietnam where he was an airplane mechanic. For 40 plus years he was the owner/operator of Schwab Construction. He was part of the Lions Club for many years as well as a volunteer at the VA Hospital in Asheville, NC. Ed was also part of the Hendersonville, NC Antique Car Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellen and Walter Schwab. Phillip Douglas Sanford passed away on April 9th, 2022 at the age of 63. He left this world surrounded by a devoted family who mourn his early passing. His battle with cancer proved his courage and determination to face life's challenges. Four short years later, in 1969, John graduated from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill with a degree in Mass Media.
