Mavis Renner, age 85, of rural Winthrop, Minnesota, passed away on May 17, 2022, at 9:00 p.m., peacefully, in her sleep at her home, surrounded by her family. Mavis had been dealing with the devastating impacts of dementia since 2016 and suffered from strokes since August of 2021. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 2407 County Rd 7, Stewart, MN, 55385, with Pastor Aaron Albrecht officiating. John William Elmer (Jack) Miller, of Shorewood, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 22, 2022. He was born on June 12, 1959 to John and Sedona (Quinnell) Miller. Jack spent his childhood in Hutchinson, MN. In high school, Jack enjoyed playing football, basketball and baseball. He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1977. In 1983, he graduated from St. Cloud State with a degree in English. Jack worked in cellular communications after college until the draw of the Grateful Dead had him relocating to Mill Valley, CA. Betty Ann (Ewert) Zimanske passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at Northfield's Long-Term Care Center, at the age of 86. She was born on March 2, 1936 on the home farm of her parents, August and Mildred (Hanson) Ewert near Buffalo Lake, MN. Betty graduated from Hutchinson Public Schools in MN in 1954 and later married Myron Zimanske on August 22, 1954, also in Hutchinson. After Myron's discharge from the Army in March 1956, they farmed south of Hutchinson. Then, in February 1963, they moved their family of six to a 160-acre farm just north of Lonsdale. Colonel Harry Spannaus passed away on January 27, 2020 in Midland, Texas. He was born in Hutchinson, Minnesota on September 1, 1930. Spannaus who went by the name "Butch" loved to hunt and fish in the Minnesota woods and lakes. He is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Letha Gail Spannaus, brother Walt, and wife of 41 years, Mary McKee Spannaus. Colonel Spannaus attended the University of Minnesota before joining the United States Air Force where he served faithfully all around the world as a jet fighter pilot for 26 years. Inez Mae Theisen (Helfmann), 94, passed away, on June 17, 2021. Born in St. Paul, MN, she was a long- time resident of Hutchinson, MN and later retired with her beloved husband Elmer to Naples, FL. Her final years were spent in assisted-living near her daughter Mary in Jupiter, FL. She was a homemaker and mother for most of her life. Inez enjoyed sports and games of all sorts both as a spectator and participant. She was an avid volleyballer and bowler and later took up tennis and golf. Elvern Francis (Haag) Neubauer, 84, of Benton Harbor, passed away at Spectrum Lakeland Regional Medical Center on September 27, 2020, just thirteen days after her birthday. Elvern was born on a farm in Hutchinson, Minnesota, on September 14, 1936, to the late Erwin and Anna (Tiemen) Haag. After graduating from high school, Elvern moved out West to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she met and fell in love with Richard Neubauer. On August 5, 1956, Elvern and Richard said "I do."
