Gilbert Lee Gross, age 89, passed away March 19, 2023, of natural causes. Gilbert was born to James and Julia (Vickers) Gross on May 15, 1933, in New Harmony, Indiana. He attended school in Owensville, IN, graduating from Owensville High School. Gil graduated from University of Evansville, Indiana with his bachelor's degree in business administration. Gil worked for Bucyrus-Erie as a lathe operator and later as an industrial engineer. Gil grew up in Southwestern Indiana where he met his sweetheart in Evansville, Indiana. Glen Alvin Betty, 71, of Chubbuck, passed away at home under the care of Hospice on March 18, 2023. Glen was born in Gooding, Idaho, to Lester Betty and Irene Koski Betty. He was the youngest of 10 children. He grew up and attended schools in Pocatello, Idaho, graduating from Highland High School, ISU Vo-Tech and CSI. Glen worked at FMC for many years and later at INEL. Glen loved woodworking, hunting, and fishing. He was a lifelong rockhound. His happiest times were hiking or four wheeling in the Land of the Yankee Fork in Challis or the Copper Basin fishing and looking for rocks which he cut and polished. Nola Lee Empey, 93, passed away in Sun Lakes, Arizona on March 17, 2023. Most of her early years including high school were spent living in Lima, Montana. She married Stanford Empey at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Dillon, Montana. Their three children Susan, David and Alan were born there. The family moved to Pocatello, Idaho in the mid-50's. Nola taught her own children in kindergarten at Good Shephard Lutheran Church and was a teacher for school district 25 in Pocatello, Idaho for many years. Jewel M. Roberts, 79, died of natural causes March 15, 2023, at Bingham Memorial Hospital. She was born February 28, 1944, in Pocatello, Idaho, the daughter of Edward and Hazel (Dillard) Kinney. Jewel graduated from Pocatello High School with the class of 1962. During high school, she played basketball and other sports and was awarded Best Female Athlete her senior year. Alan Francis Van Hook, 91, passed away on March 14, 2023. Alan was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 7, 1931 to Warren Van Hook, Sr. and Mary Genevive Van Hook. At nine years of age, Alan was orphaned, and his oldest brother, Warren, Jr., raised him until Alan graduated from high school, at Pemberton, New Jersey. Alan enlisted in the US Air Force in June of 1949. After training as an airframe mechanic, Alan was sent to Kadena AFB, Okinawa, where he repaired battle damage to B-29 aircraft during the Korean War. Kenneth Dean Berry, 86, was called home to heaven on March 14, 2023 at 7:08 a.m. in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He passed surrounded by his many loved ones who's lives he touched so dearly. Kenneth was born May 31, 1936, in Delta, Colorado, to his loving parents, Delmer and Eula Berry. Russell J. Atwood, 64, passed away on March 10, 2023. He was born June 8, 1958 in St. Anthony, Idaho. Throughout his childhood, the family moved many times following his dad's career "chasing the crusher." Over the years, he and his 2 brothers were experts in raising hell, leaving their mark everywhere they lived. They eventually settled in Blackfoot where he graduated high school in 1976.
