Mr. William Gray Smith, Sr., 73, of Mocksville, NC departed this world December 16, 2021, from the NC Veterans Nursing Home in Salisbury, NC. He was the born at home August 2, 1948, the fifth child of the late James Kelly Smith and Lula Mae Gough Smith. In addition to his parents, William is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Arvesta McEwen of Mocksville, NC and two grandchildren. Johnnie Felix Klimkowski, 82, of Greer, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2021. Born in Oklahoma City, OK, he was a son of the late Felix Klimkowski and Helen Kosinski Klimkowski, of Harrah, OK. After attending Oklahoma State University, Johnnie proudly served in the US Navy attaining the rank of Captain. During his career, he made contributions as President of the North Carolina Hospital Engineers Association and as a board member to the American Society of Hospital Engineers. Born on March 23, 1926, she was raised in the Four Corners Community of Davie County, the oldest of 7 children born to Smoot and Abbie Shelton. Being the oldest, her responsibilities included helping her parents care for her siblings, doing laundry, ironing, farm chores, attending church weekly with her family, delivering the Sunday newspaper at 4:00 AM with her dad, having perfect attendance in school for 11 years, taking piano lessons and generally being a model daughter and sister. Joan Porter Carter was made whole again through Jesus on September 29, 2020 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Joan was born on November 6, 1944, in Nashville, TN, and was raised there with her two sisters. She spent 20 years of her life in Advance, NC, with the love of her life, Leon Carter, and returned with him to Knoxville to be with her family in 2016. John Albea Gaither, 82, of Mocksville, passed away Monday, February 3, 2020. Mr.Gaither was born August 23, 1937 in Davie County, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by Parents John Pinkney Gaither and Grace Albea Gaither. He was also preceded in death by his infant brother, Paul E. Gaither; sisters Shirley G. Smith; Colonel Beavey L. Gaither; and brother Deputy Wayne H. Gaither. John proudly served in the United States Army.
