Joan Bond, 89 years young, of San Angelo, Texas, passed from this life to her Heavenly home on May 17, 2022. She was a former resident of Smithville, Texas. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service celebrating her life at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Rosanky First Baptist Church, 2160 FM 535, Rosanky, Texas 78953. Joan was born October 3, 1932, to Richard and Retha Sanders in Sweetwater, Oklahoma. She was raised in Oil Center and Eunice, New Mexico. Richard "Dick" Helmcamp, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, February 9th, 2022 at Harris Methodist Hospital in Ft. Worth, Texas. He was a great family man, educator, mentor, entertainer, and friend. Born to Adolph Jack and Daisy Dabney Helmcamp, raised in Yoakum, Texas, Dick graduated from Yoakum High School and attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, where he received his bachelor and masters' degrees in Music Education. He met his future wife, Patsy Ann Albers, at the university and they married in July of 1963 in Alief, Texas. Evans John Adkins, III, age 71 of Smithville, Texas passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at his residence in Smithville, Texas. Evans was born November 28, 1949 in Dallas, Texas to Evans J. Adkins, Jr. and Frankye (Jolly) Adkins. He was 1969 graduate of R.L. Turner High School in Carrollton, Texas. He graduated from West Texas State University in Canyon with a bachelor's degree in Biology. Evans was a career military man, serving 27 years in the US. Clinton Marie Wright was born November 2, 1929 to Ivy Ruth Smith and Carl Lee Deary. She began her education at Smithville Colored School and graduated from Temple High School at age sixteen. After graduating from high school she was enrolled at Huston-Tillotson College in Austin, TX where she earned a degree in Home Economics. After graduating she attended the University of Southern California as a doctoral candidate. Mrs. Wright lived in Germany for several years where she learned the language.
