Born March 30, 1943 in New York, NY to Brooks and Evelyn "Teddy" (LeMunyon) Carpenter, Phil graduated from Evander High School in 1961, and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After six years of active duty, Phil was honorably discharged, and he and his beloved wife, Linda, moved to Waltham, to attend Northeastern University and Suffolk Law School.
