Born April 14, 1941, in Carroll County, Indiana, he was the son of Mose and Ruby (Skiles) Flora. On November 3, 1962, he was married to Julia Kinzie, and she survives. He graduated from Camden High School in 1959 and was a member of the Mexico Old German Baptist Brethren Church. He was the founder and former owner of DEFCO, Inc. in Twelve Mile.
