Baptized Hedwig Isabelle, Sister Mary Denis was born Jan. 25, 1918, in Quincy, Ill., the oldest child of Mary (Schuetz) and Frank Philip Bruck, immigrants of Austria-Hungary. Joseph Raymond Howard, age 94 of Bardstown, passed away November 26, 2020 at the VA Medical Center in Louisville. He was born May 7, 1926 in Whitesville, (Daviess County) Ky, and graduated from Saint Mary of the Woods High School on June 4, 1944. He enlisted into the Army on July 22, 1944 and was a T/SGT of the motor pool in Central Europe. He was assigned to the Third Army under the command of General George S. Patton and was among the many that fought and died at the Battle of the Bulge.
