Margaret (Peggy) Acord, 94, of Amarillo, TX passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday March 10, 2020. Peggy was born in Indianapolis, IN in 1925 to Roy Dan and Jean (Dodds) Deupree. She married Ivan Donald Acord in 1945. Peggy was always very gracious and giving of her time to others and various organizations. An avid bird watcher from a very young age, enjoying quilting with her quilting friends, and several other types of handcrafts. A voracious reader who also enjoyed her crossword puzzles. Sherrie served in the US Marine Corps from 1970 - 1972. On July 7, 1977 Sherrie became a sober member of AA where she was of service to many throughout the years. Leland James Griess, age 74, died unexpectedly on Wednesday , June 19, 2019 in Amarillo, Tx. Lee was born in Hastings, Ne. on January 20, 1945. He was the oldest of 4 children. Lee moved to the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Colorado with his family as a young boy and often talked of the great memories with his siblings and family during those years in Buena Vista and then Colorado Springs, Co. Richard Whisenand, 93, of Amarillo, died peacefully Dec. 3 at Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Home, surrounded by his daughters. Cremation arrangements were completed Thursday, December 6 under the guidance of Lighthouse Funeral and Cremation Services. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
