Harvey Zahler of St. Michael passed away peacefully on September 8, 2024, at the age of 93. Harvey Erwin Zahler was born on January 23, 1931, to Robert and Edna (Jaeb) Zahler on the family homestead in St. Michael. His formal education ended at the age of 16 when he was pulled from school to work full time on the farm. To help pay farm bills, he picked up extra work which usually involved hauling something including lumber, grain, cattle, liquor, and coal. When his parents decided to retire from farming in 1954, Harvey chose not to farm, but instead took a job with Land O' Lakes in St. Michael where he mostly delivered bottled milk to stores. Together, they had five daughters by the time Carrol was 28, and their family grew to include 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
