He attended the Council Grove, KS high school and then Wentworth military academy in Lexington, MO before graduating from University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS. He then graduated from Kansas City University Medical School, the same medical school from which his father, Dr. James E Bowers, and his daughter Dr. Maria Bowers Headrick graduated. Hong Kee Barrett, 76 yrs old, of Chickamauga passed away on November 17, 2023. She was born in Chaiyaphum, Thailand on February 20, 1947. She retired from SHAW Industries in Lafayette after 18 years of service. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, playing cards, gardening, parties and family gatherings. Survivors include her loving husband, Gary Dennis Barrett; sons, Yack (Susan) Barrett and Denny (Amanda) Barrett; several brothers and sisters; grandchildren, Bryce, Allison and Beau and great-grandchildren, Lavrey and Emma; along with several nieces and nephews. Burton was born October 20, 1932, to Madge Blaylock Brown and Henry LaFayette Brown at home on Mission Ridge in Rossville, Georgia and baptized in a tributary of West Chickamauga Creek. Bonnie Buena Babb, 94, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 9, 2023. She lived in Ringgold for 62 years and was an active member at Ringgold First Baptist Church for 58 of those years. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Herchel Babb and son, Wayne Michael and infant son, James Marion. Wanda W. Myers lost her battle with cancer on January 20, 2022. She spent the last 20 years of her life struggling with breast cancer, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, mycosis, and Hodgkin's lymphoma. She was remarkably resilient as she fought the battle; she never complained about her diagnoses. Wanda's doctors frequently praised her tenacity.
