Stanley Nelson "Stan" Veltkamp, 82, longtime resident of Manhattan, recently residing in Belgrade, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born December 17, 1942, in Byron Center, Michigan to Neal and Liz (Kamps) Veltkamp. Stan was the third of five children, joining brothers Harold (Judy) Veltkamp and Burton (Marty) Veltkamp, followed by sisters Irene (Dennis) DeFrance and Norma (Craig) White. Stan grew up in the Gallatin Valley, attending elementary school in Gallatin Gateway & Bozeman, graduating from Manhattan Christian High School in 1961. Donald Eugene Swank passed away April 13, 2025. He was born on October 6, 1926, at home in Benteen, near Crow Agency. Don was the fifth of 13 children. Don went to work at age 14 for Bill Stovall Ranch at Fly Inn, MT. At age 16 he was employed at the PN Ranch, north of Lewistown. It was from there that he received a letter from Uncle Sam, saying I WANT YOU! Don served two years in the South Pacific for the U.S. Army. He then returned to the PN Ranch for two more years. In 1952, Don married Carol Thompson and moved to Bozeman. Don was employed as a janitor at MSU. They later moved to Manhattan. The daughter of Joseph and Julia Rolla, she was born on June 17, 1947, in Ware, Massachusetts, where she lived until she moved out to Bozeman, Montana 10 years ago to be closer to her family. Linda enjoyed bingo, talking with friends, but nothing more than just hanging out with her grandkids. You could find her at the kids' ballfield and hockey rink, any chance she could. Robert "Nick" Leland Nickelson, 97, of Bozeman Montana passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 12, 2025. Nick was born September 13, 1927, in Livingston, Montana, the son of Frank Chriss and Dora Christine (Werner) Nickelson. Nick grew up in the Cokedale area about 10 miles west of Livingston, Montana on a cattle ranch without electricity. The area was isolated and the road to town was often impassable in the winter. Nick helped tend to the horses, cattle, pigs, lambs, and chickens. He also helped work on machinery and became a jack of all trades. Through eighth grade, Nick attended a one-room school where at times he was the only student and at most there were seven students. ...

Duane Anton Denton was born in Bozeman, MT to Gail B. and Ina Rose Christie Denton on October 1,1942. They brought him home from Bozeman Deaconess Hospital to his first home, a ranch at Olson Creek in Bridger Canyon. In 1945 the family moved to the home where he and his older sister, Eva, would grow up. It was a small log cabin at the corner of Jackson Creek and Bridger Canyon Road. Arielle Tamalene Giovanini passed away Sunday evening March 30, 2025, shortly after celebrating her 15th birthday. This incredible tragedy is a profound loss for both her family and friends. It is very important for the Giovanini family to share the nature of her passing in hopes to give comfort for those who have been a part of her short, but beautiful life. Aaron Kenneth Kuhl passed away on March 29, 2025 in Australia. Aaron was born to Douglas Kuhl and Diane (Kuhl) Christensen on February 8, 1981. He was born in Fond du Lac, WI and moved to MT when he was 1. Aaron was a blessed musician and a kind heart to everyone around him. Aaron fell in love with Australia the first time he visited in 1999. He has lived there for the past 20 years. He will be greatly missed by friends and family both here and in Australia. He leaves behind his wife, Ivy, of 8 years; his mom, Diane; two brothers, Joseph (Jackie) and Daniel (Audrie); and two nieces, Kiley and Kaitlyn. Mollie Waldum was welcomed into the world on February 10, 1959 in Detroit Lakes, MN by her lucky parents Ralph and Joan (Schweitzer) McNally. The second youngest of six children, her love of life and ability to connect with people endeared her to all. Growing up in Rapid City, South Dakota, Mollie always carried a certain wisdom and calm and a seemingly effortless way of helping everyone. Mollie Melva (Morse) Nickelson, 93, of Bozeman Montana passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 24, 2025. Mollie was born December 20, 1931 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Russell Wright and Melva Evelyn (Griffin) Morse. Mollie grew up in Minneapolis and came to Bozeman to attend college. She met Robert "Nick" at Montana State College. They were married at St. James Episcopal Church in Bozeman on August 23, 1952. They moved back to Minneapolis while Nick attended graduate school. Kelly Ray Apple, 60, of Belgrade passed away Friday, March 14, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. He was born February 26, 1965, in Downey, California to James "Jim" and Judy (Anderson) Apple. Kelly grew up in southern California, where he went to San Marcos High School and enjoyed playing football with his many great friends. He then attended Marymount College in Salina, Kansas on a baseball scholarship. Later, he moved to St. George, Utah, for a few short years to be closer to his son, Easton, and then returned to Montana, settling in Belgrade. He was a true jack of all trades.
