He grew up on the family farm in Sheldon, raising chickens and cash crop corn. He graduated from Houston High School in 1951. He continued his education at the Minneapolis Business College from 1952-1955. During that time, he sold pots and pans, door to door to make ends meet. After graduating from college his first job was as an accountant for the G. Heileman Brewing Company in LaCrosse. He remained there until 1974. She left us peacefully with her granddaughter Lisa and great granddaughters, Miranda and Brooke, by her side. Margaret was very loved by all and she will be sorely missed.
