Gary M. Songer, age 72, passed away September 21, 2024. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 19th at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 419 E. Grove St, Caledonia. Pierce "Perry" A. Brown, born July 3rd, 1933 in Caledonia, MN, passed away peacefully at Gundersen Lutheran Health Systems in La Crosse on Wednesday, July 31st, 2024. Perry was very patriotic throughout his life. In his youth during World War II, Perry participated in the Civil Air Patrol program of watching the sky for possible invading enemy aircraft which required memorizing aircraft profiles. There was an American flag flying at all times at the Brown home. While attending Spring Grove High School he excelled in football, basketball, and baseball. Later he attended Luther College in Decorah, IA. During college he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served with the Army Combat Engineers....

Gregory F. "Zoom" Zumach, 79, of La Crescent, MN passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 21st, 2024, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. Greg was a devoted husband, loving dad and stepfather. He loved singing country music and playing his harmonicas. He last played his harmonica for his niece, Patty Brown, a few weeks ago. Suzann M. (Hjelming) Beckman, 86, of La Crescent, MN passed away peacefully on November 28, 2023 with family by her side. Suzann was born in Caledonia, MN on October 26, 1937, to Lawrence and Stella Hjellming. Suzann was united in marriage to William "Bill" Beckman on September 17, 1955. They later divorced but remained close friends, enjoying trips and gambling together. She resided in La Crescent for many years after different moves during her life. She always had very fond memories of adventures with friends when she lived in Caledonia, MN. Arlie C. Blexrud, 85 of Hokah, and recently of SpringBrook Village in La Crescent, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2023. He was born September 24, 1938, in Spring Grove, MN to Winton and Ella (Sollien) Blexrud and attended schools in Spring Grove. Arlie proudly served his country in the US Navy from 1957 until his Honorable discharge in 1961. He served on board the USS Mississinewa AO-144 as a Machinist's mate, home ported in Naples, Italy. He was the recipient of the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal after being deployed to the 1958 Lebanon Crisis. Gary L. Kosen, age 82, of Dakota, MN, passed away Monday, October 30, 2023 at his beloved farm. He was born March 19, 1941 in La Crosse, WI, to the late Elmer and Doris Kosen. He married Jane "Pee-Wee" M. Schurz on November 14, 1964 in La Crosse and together they spent thirty-seven years until her passing on June 11, 2002. Gary drove Caterpillars as a heavy equipment operator for International Union of Operating Engineers Local #49ers until his retirement. Douglas Wayne Meyer, 94, of La Crescent, MN, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Gundersen Health System La Crosse. He was born on May 30, 1929, in Spring Grove, MN, to Edwin and Gladys (Burmeister) Meyer. The family resided in Caledonia, MN, at that time, but purchased a farm in Thompson Valley near Hokah, MN, where Doug grew up. Doug loved the land and farmed there until his retirement to La Crescent, MN, in 1992. On August 6th, 1955, he married Mary Ginsky of La Crosse, WI. Roger D. Simota, born on July 6, 1954, in New Prague, Minnesota, courageously battled cancer for nearly two years and passed away at Mayo Hospital in La Crosse, WI, on September 3, 2023. He was surrounded by his loving family during his final moments. Jere L. Siegersma, age 80, passed away at home, Monday, April 3, 2023. Jere was born in Milaca, MN on December 4, 1942 to Peter and Louise (Kiel) Siegersma. He grew up on a dairy farm, went to a one-room-school for much of his education, and graduated from Milaca High School in 1960. Jere joined the Navy when he was 17 years old and served on the USS Orleans Parish from 1960-1963, in charge of the engine room aboard the ship. Eldon Jerome Iverson, 93, of Hokah , MN passed away peacefully, as he longed to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on March 15, 2023 at Valley View Healthcare, Houston, MN. Eldon was born February 20, 1930 in Preston, MN to Selma (Larson) and Edwin Iverson. He was confirmed at Faith Lutheran Church in Black Hammer. She was born November 4, 1940, in Prosper, MN to Royal and Borghild (Narum) Rollins. She was raised in Mabel, MN and graduated from Mabel High School. William Eugene Beckman, 86, passed away at his home surrounded by loved ones, on Thursday, December 8, 2022. He passed before the first substantial snow of the season approached. Bill was born in La Crosse on June 23, 1936, to William R. and Ruth (Bouffleur) Beckman. He was raised on the family farm in rural La Crescent, where he lived his entire life. He enjoyed the country for all it had to offer, plowing the land, haying the fields, and tending to the beef cattle. Glen W. Peterson Glen W. Peterson, 65, of Northfield, MN, passed away on October 3rd, 2022 at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Rochester, MN, following complications from myelodysplastic syndrome. Glen was born January 13, 1957, in Los Angeles, CA and his family moved to La Crosse, WI when Glen was two years old. Theresa D. Wilkes, 90, of Hokah, MN, died on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at her home. She was born in Hokah, on October 5, 1931 to Theodore and Anna (Feldmeier) Hafner. She married Francis R. Wilkes on February 14, 1953 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Hokah. Theresa had worked as a nurse before moving with Francis to their farm in Hokah. She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting and crafting. Theresa was a very active member of St. Peter's Parish in Hokah.
