Space Pioneer, Father and Friend On March 2nd, 2024, William "Bill" James Costas of Largo, died peacefully at his home at 87 years of age. Bill was born in Farrell, PA on May 12, 1936 to his beloved parents James and Anna Costas. He was a lifelong and dedicated employee of the North American Aircraft, Rockwell Aerospace and Boeing Corporations. During his career, he developed, manufactured and tested space propulsion systems supporting the Atlas, Apollo and Space Shuttle programs. He retired from Boeing as an executive who led the Stennis Spaceflight Center Space Shuttle Maintenance Engine (SSME) test program in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.
