He was born April 11, 1940 in Allentown, PA to the late Donald & Hilda (Kelly) Smoyer. Ronald was a 1958 graduate of Emmaus High School in Emmaus, PA. He went on to attend Kutztown University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1962, and later went on to earn a masters degree also from Kutztown University.
