New Bern, NC Mrs. Wanda H. McLaurin, 85, went to her heavenly Father Thursday, January 23, 2020. She was born in Durham, NC to Earl and Pearl Henry and graduated from Durham High School. Following that, she attended Campbell College and New Orleans Baptist Seminary. While raising her family with her husband Horace, she attended night school at NC Central University and UNC-Greensboro where she earned her Masters in Education. Wanda became an elementary school teacher with a career spanning over 25 years in the NC School system, including Durham, Alamance, Carteret, Hertford, Aberdeen, and Craven districts. ALFRED NOEL FOWLER, Captain, USN (Ret.), died at age 93 on January 14, 2020. He was a resident of New Bern, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn. Alfred, known as "Punk" to family, was born on August 29, 1926, in Waterloo, Iowa. He married his high school sweetheart, Kathryn (Katie) Shadle, on September 8, 1945. The profound love they shared as teenagers would last 70 years. Mr. Robert W. "Bob" Milner, 65, passed away at home Friday, November 15, 2019, with his wife, Joanne Friedman nearby. A native of Orange County, NY, Bob was the son of Josephine and Robert H. Milner, a US Army veteran, and retired from Ulster County, NY as a welfare fraud investigator. He was a faithful friend of Bill W. for over 35 years, and enjoyed music, fishing, boating, grilling and photography.
