Sandra Hamilton Newton, 76, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2022, surrounded by family at home in Charlotte. Sandy was born in Athens, Georgia on May 13, 1946, to Lacy Leroy and Dolores Dzierzgowski Hamilton. She graduated from Needham Broughton High School in Raleigh and UNC Greensboro. Sandy was a gifted artist and teacher who taught in Guam in the early 1970s and more recently at Reedy Creek Elementary School in Charlotte. She retired from Charlotte-Mecklenburg County Schools in 2013. Tommy Joel Tucker, 38, of Dallas, NC passed away early Thursday morning, December 30, 2021. Born in Charlotte, NC on April 19, 1983, Tommy is the son of Linda Adams Tucker and the late Ray Cecil Tucker. He owned and operated Tucker Trucking Company. In addition to his mother, survivors include a son, Clinten Tucker; a daughter, Lexi Tucker; two brothers, Michael Tucker and Rick Tucker. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jeannette Tucker. Mary Kirkwood Wiley died June 10, 2021. She was born in Pierre, SD December 29, 1936; oldest daughter of John Safford Wiley and Leone Davis Wiley. Mary graduated from Savannah High School in 1955 and the University of Georgia in 1959. She worked as a Commercial Artist in Georgia, Florida and California. Mary loved animals and airplanes and was a member of several aviation museums and an associate member of the 8th Air Force Historical Society. She is survived by her brother John Davis Wiley, sister Coralyn Harn, daughter Valerie Laney and many nieces and nephews. Her youngest sister, Martha Holton, died suddenly in May 2015.
