Ms. Linda Reese Whitesides, of Shelby, formerly of Charlotte, went to be with the Lord on April 25, 2021. Her children and daughter-in-law were with her when she gained her wings. She was born in Mecklenburg County to the late Adrian Reese and Virginia Byrd Reese. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roger S. Whitesides Sr., brothers James Reese, Jerry Reese, and George Reese. Roger Whitlock Kellis, 95 of Charlotte, NC formerly of Candor, NC, passed away on the 8th of March, 2021 in Charlotte. Roger was born on the 14th of December, 1925 in Montgomery County, NC to the late Clyde Kellis and Sadye Whitlock Kellis. Roger was the owner and operator of Insect Control Sales and Service for 37 years until his retirement. He was very active in the community, serving as Chief for the Candor Volunteer Fire Department for 26 years. He was instrumental in the start up of a volunteer ambulance service, serving for 22 years. Georgia Lemperis Karres of Charlotte died at 102 years old on February 5, 2021. Born in Chicago, Illinois on November 13, 1918, Georgia was the youngest daughter of Nicholas and Marigo Lemperis, both of whom emigrated from Greece in the early 1900s. She was raised in the city with her brother Harry and two sisters, Penelope and Estelle. Georgia moved from big-city Chicago to small-town Charlotte after she wed James "Jim" Matthew Karres on July 22, 1945. Jim and Georgia met at her best friend's wedding in Chicago and decided to marry after a long-distance courtship. They welcomed their first son Matthew in 1946 and Nicholas in 1949. Jane Rogers Davis, 90, passed away on the 2nd of January, 2021, at Clare Bridge of The Carriage Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. Jane was the first of two children born to James Lanham Rogers and Montine Rogers of Augusta, Georgia. She graduated from Winthrop University with a degree in Journalism and became the first Women's Page Editor of the Charlotte Observer.
