Dr. Hubert Gaines Pierce, age 91, of Kinston, North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. Dr. Pierce was born in Hallsboro, North Carolina on August 21,1932. He attended Mars Hill College for two years and completed his undergraduate education at Wake Forest College in Wake Forest, North Carolina. Afterwards, he attended Bowman Gray School of Medicine, now Wake Forest University School of Medicine, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina where he graduated in 1958. Buzz, one of eight children, was born October 22, 1930, in Waterloo, Indiana to Gladys and Clellie R. Smart, Sr. Buzz had many fond memories of his years growing up on his family's dairy farm. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1954 and supported our country during the Korean War. Robert Glenn Hardee, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 7, 2023. Born in Greenville in October 1938, Robert graduated from Grimesland High School in 1957, where he was voted most likely to succeed and most thoughtful. He played basketball and served as class Vice President. Robert was also an active member of the Army National Guard. Robert met and married the love of his life, and childhood friend, Ann Adams Hardee, his wife of 64 years. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
