Kathleen Marie "Kathy" Wood, of Lansing, MI and North Port, FL, age 79, passed away peacefully at home on October 9, 2023. She lived her life on her terms, and was fiercely independent until the very end. Friends describe Kathy as gentle, kind, creative, thoughtful, and supportive. Born on November 29, 1943, to the late Robert G. and Martha A. Wood, she grew up in Lansing, attending St. Mary Cathedral High School and Michigan State University. Married for almost 15 years to Steve Purdy, she had two children, Stephanie Kate and Philip Clark who survive her. Travis was 86 years old when he passed away on September 3, 2022, after battling a rare neuro-muscular degenerative brain disease. Travis was born December 17, 1935, in Janesville, Wisconsin, to Eugene and Leona (Schultz) Fairchild, and his family moved to Beloit, WI shortly thereafter. He graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in 1954, where he was very involved in ROTC. Berton served in the Michigan National Guard, was a graduate of Michigan State University, and worked for the Lansing School District as the head of accounting. K.E. "Gene" McGraw, 88, passed away on Dec. 9, 2020 after a brief illness. He and his wife Mary were cottage owners in Lake City since 1970 and enjoyed many years together with their family on the shores of Lake Missaukee, until her passing in 2017. The family grew over the years from Gene and Mary's two children ? Scott and Shanna ? to 12 with their families adding to the number.
