Emily Arnold of Petersham, Massachusetts died on the morning of February 14, 2021 at the age of 85. She was born in Palo Alto, California on January 13, 1936 to Tom and Fanny Arnold. She is remembered as a social butterfly, generous and kind to all. Emily was a beloved member of the Petersham community, serving on boards at the Petersham Art Center and Petersham Memorial Library, as well as on the Parish Committee at the First Congregation Parish, Unitarian of Petersham. Many will remember her decked out in flag attire on the Fourth of July, behind the wheel of her 1965 Mustang convertible. Mary Anne Scannell, 99, formerly of Greenfield, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday April 7, 2020. Born and raised in Greenfield, Mary was the daughter of Irish immigrants Peter Flourence and Nora Mary (Quill) Scannell and lived in Greenfield before moving to Holden, MA in 2010. Mary graduated from Holy Trinity School and Greenfield High School both in Greenfield and attended North Hampton Commercial College. She worked for the draft board and drafted her bother into the United States Army to serve in WWII. A native of Florence, MA, Ed graduated from Northampton High School, served honorably in the United States Navy, and completed various certificate programs at local colleges. Ed worked at numerous jobs including the V.A. Medical Center in Leeds and Hairston House in Northampton. Throughout his life he was a member of the communities in Pittsfield, Greenfield, and Turners Falls. As a long-time member of AA, Ed's sharing of his struggles with addiction and depression helped many others who strive to work a program of recovery, one day at a time. Fern Louise Camann, age 89 of Upperville, VA formally of Charlestown and Athol, MA died on Thursday, January 30 in Spring Harbor Assisted Living Residence in Winchester, VA. She was born in Athol, MA and was a daughter of Saul and Rebecca (Kushnerofsky) Camann. She was a 1948 graduate of Athol High School and received her associate degree in 1950 from Becker College in Worcester, MA.
