Anna Reeder Akins, of Cornelius, NC, and formerly of Fuquay-Varina, NC, passed away peacefully on the date of her 59th wedding anniversary, August 15, 2023. She is predeceased by her husband, Waverly F. Akins, attorney and former chairman of the Wake County Commissioners and former President of the NC County Commissioners. Born on August 5, 1938, in Sumter, SC, Anna was the only child of William Trego Reeder and Adele Stevens Reeder. She attended Edmunds High School in Sumter, where she and her lifelong friends, known as the Cradle girls and later the JWGs, enjoyed many fun times together. Barry B Santas, age 80, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2020. He was born in Neilsville, Wisconsin to William Clayton and Irene Mae Santas. Mr. Charles O'Connor Mills, formerly of McDonough, GA died at age 80. He was a retired machinist at Nabisco in Atlanta, where he enjoyed a 35-year career with the company. He was an avid fisherman and golfer. He served four years in the U.S. Navy, outside of wartime, which took him to Italy and Turkey on the USS Pursuit, an oceanographic survey vessel. He was married to his devoted wife, Jolene, for 61 years.
