Melba Shipman, 86, of Como, MS, passed away October 20, 2023 at her residence. Melba was a member of Como Baptist Church. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing in the choir. She was an avid gardener, loved bowling in her younger days and loved playing Bunko. James Harris Pilgrim, 64, of Coldwater, MS, passed away October 4, 2022 at his residence. He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Pilgrim; brother, Danny Pilgrim; and niece, Mackenzie Pilgrim. He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Pilgrim. Visitation will be held Friday, October 7, from 10 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church Coldwater where he was a member. Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in Hernando Memorial Park Cemetery. Pate-Jones Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.

Shirley Marie Scible, 91, of South Daytona, FL and formerly of Edgewater, MD. passed away Sunday, September 25, 2022, at Senatobia Health Care and Rehab in Senatobia, MS. Shirley was born in Maryland on Wednesday, October 15, 1930, to the late Clifford and Hazel Smith. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Bernhards and Flo DePrato. She is survived by her daughter, Sherri Gardner (Paul) of Southaven, MS; sons, Denny Thomas (Janet) of Bowie, MD and Ronny Largent (Sherri) of Denton, MD; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. To honor Shirley's wishes, no services will be held. Pate-Jones Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Alice Humphrey Kent passed away on December 2, 2021. Alice was born on August 7, 1933 in Greenwood, MS. At the age of five, Alice, her mother, and sister moved to Jackson to live in the beautiful historic home of her grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. John W. Barksdale at 1440 North State Street. Alice enjoyed many happy and influential childhood experiences at Camp DeSoto, a Christian summer camp for girls atop Lookout Mountain in Mentone, AL. Alice was a DeSoto camper, a Chickasaw. She loved the camp songs, simple cabins and nightly campfires. Alice always portrayed the Camp DeSoto spirit of an upbeat "can-do" attitude towards life.
