She passed away peacefully at her home in Morgantown, surrounded by her loving family. Ruth was born on August 3, 1933, to the late Joseph and Hazel (Hundley) Cox. She grew up on a sharecropping farm in Amity, alongside her seven siblings. Ruth attended school in Edinburgh until the age of 14, when she lost her mother and took on the responsibility of helping care for her younger siblings. Dan was born in Martinsville on September 2, 1946, to the late Isaac N. and Charlene F. (Haggard) Hoagland. He was a 1966 graduate of Morgantown High School and went on to serve as a Sergeant with the 7520th United States Air Force Hospital Unit until he was honorably discharged in 1969.
