Frances (Fran) Martin, 94, passed away on May 7th, 2025, in Bloomington, Indiana. She was born on January 24, 1931, in Jacksonville, Illinois, the daughter of Harold and Lora Swain. She spent her early years on a farm near Jacksonville. Following those years, she attended and graduated from DePauw University in Greencastle, where she was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority. On May 18, 1953, she married Don Martin whom she had met while at DePauw. Don had been a student and a graduate of Wabash College in Crawfordsville, In. She was born on Jan. 23, 1928, in Greene County, Indiana, a daughter of Dr. Stanley and Ollie (Williams) Brewer. A graduate of Marco High School, she became a licensed cosmetologist and began her career in Vincennes in 1946. She founded her cosmetology business in Evansville in 1954 and retired in 1998. He was born March 25, 1935, in Russiaville, Indiana, to Frank A. and Flora V. (Shirley) Ragan. On May 27, 1961, he married Alice Faye (Matthews), who survives. They were married for 57 years. Gilda F Epstein, age 98, of Bloomington, Indiana passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025. Born December 31st, 1926 in Connecticut to Samuel and Ida (Brazel) Frankel. Gilda spent almost all of her life in New York City before moving to Bloomington to be with her sister Charlotte Gerrard in 2000. Gilda taught at Indiana University until her retirement.
