He spent his early childhood years in Kenedy, moving to Bloomington in 1954, and to Victoria (Crescent Valley) in 1961. He was a 1966 graduate of Victoria High School, attended Victoria College for two years, and transferred to Baylor University in 1968, graduating in 1971 with a Bachelor of Music Education degree. Donald "Duck" Dean Ohrt was born to the late AJ and Caroline Jaschke Ohrt at his family home in Mission Valley on January 4, 1935. He went to Heaven at the age of 88 on Sunday, December 3, 2023, surrounded by his family at home. Duck was a lifelong member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Meyersville, where he participated in the Knights of Columbus.
