Gisele 'Lily' O'Hara, 96, passed away on November 17th at Tidwell Hospice House. I was lucky to have her in my life for. 76 yrs. She was the best mother ever. My cousin Jo-Ann Dimarco wrote about our family on the National Cremation website.A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, December 5th at 12:30 PM in the chapel of the Incarnation Catholic Church, 2901 Bee Ridge Road Sarasota, FL 34239 with services following at Sarasota National Cemetery at 2:30 PM.

Jane Rita Nachtrieb, 84 passed away on November 12, 2023. She will join her husband David Nachtrieb, parents Nell and Dean Algeo, and two brothers Steve and Charlie. She leaves three children Margee Reese (Barry), John Nachtrieb, and Donna Neidert. She leaves her siblings, Ann, Judy, Mike, Beth, and Mark, and 7 grandchildren Carly, Jessica, Joshua, Emma, Shannon, Travis and Sam. Jane was retired from the State of Florida. Jane was known for her sweet personality, kindness, and unconditional love. Further information can be found at the National Cremation website. Joseph David Miller, 95, of Bradenton, FL, passed away on November 11, 2023. He was born on November 19, 1927, in Bristol, CT, the son of Andrew P. Miller and Mary (May) V. Johnston. Joe was predeceased by his beloved wife Alice Jean (Krpata) and their son Scott Miller. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Mary, Andrew Jr., and Elizabeth. Joe proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps during World War II. His dedication and commitment to his military associations was unwavering. James (Jim) Milton Slough, 89, of Sarasota, FL passed away at Sarasota Memorial Hospital on November 10, 2023. Jim was born in Middletown, OH on April 24, 1934. He graduated from Gratis High School (Gratis, OH). For many years he enjoyed attending the annual Gratis Alumni Banquet to reunite with friends and family. He retired from Armco Steel of Middletown, OH after more than 30 years of service as a steel worker. He married Delores Alyeene Carter on October 13th, 1956; they were married for 67 years. Jim is survived by his wife Alyeene, son Dwight, and sister Jean Randall, and other family and friends. No services are planned in Florida.

Richard J. McGuire, onetime head football coach and then for twenty years the principal of Scotia-Glenville High School, died Oct. 27 in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. He was 96 and until very recently was reading a book a week, mostly history. Dick, as he was known even though he preferred Richard, has a long biography. He was born May 23, 1927 to Helen and James McGuire and grew up in Johnstown where he became a star halfback at Johnstown High School. He and his wife of 72 years, Marjorie, graduated in 1945 after which Dick went on to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy where he was later elected to their hall of fame and Marge went to Albany State. Nordis Luxembourg n?e Stromsheim-Jensen took her final Viking ship to Valhalla on September 28, 2023. Her parents owned the Hotel Bristol in Oslo where they resided. Her youngest memories are of living among Nazis who took the hotel when they invaded. Norway was the most occupied country in Europe with one Nazi for every eight Norwegians. The terrors she witnessed as a young child were never far from her mind throughout her life. With her father hoping that she would work at the hotel, she was sent to Paris for culinary school, and interned at Maxim's.
