She attended grade school and high school in Montana until her sophomore year. She graduated from high school in Faith, South Dakota in 1950. Verna Mae loved her years in Faith, and enjoyed all of the wonderful people that lived there. She was united in marriage to Gerald Thomas in 1952. They had 2 children; Twylia and Barry.
