Betsy Hill Wade, 88, died on July 10, 2024 in Owensboro, Ky. She was born to Bess VandeLinde Hill and Carlos V. Hill on Feb. 16, 1936 at home in Lory, W.Va. Betsy graduated from Scott High School in Danville, W.Va., where she played basketball. Her first job was in the finger print division at the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in biology from Alderson Broaddus College (AB) in Philippi, W.Va., where she met Warren Wilson College transfer student, Thomas M.L. Wade. He was born October 7, 1982 in Tacoma, Washington to Patricia Dianne Hentz Brown and the late Curtis Dale Neely. Sergeant Ian Hunter Taylor, 24, of Owensboro, passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2021 in Daviess County. He greeted this world on April 30, 1997 in Longmont, Colorado screaming, hollering and having a good time. He continued living his life in that manner for his short 24 years with us. The Rev. Thomas Martin Leonard Wade died Feb. 2, 2021. He was 86 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Vandiver Hill Wade and Clydia Sara Ann Sharp Wade. The Chattanooga, Tenn. native was bigger than life, both physically and in personality. Unable to play outside as a child due to asthma, he entertained himself by learning to wiggle his ears. Nan Tompkins Rowe, passed peacefully in her sleep and went to be with the Lord on December 26, 2020, at the Hermitage Care & Rehabilitation Center in Owensboro. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on August 21, 1929. At 12 days old, she was adopted by Henry P "Chick" Tompkins and Della May "Muddie" Tompkins. Nan was always proud to tell people she had been adopted and spent her entire life feeling blessed for having such wonderful parents.
