Polly Emzety Roberts Dowell (68) passed away June 15, 2023 at her son's residence in Nicholasville after a long battle with cancer. Born October 6, 1954 in Wayne County, Kentucky, she was the only daughter of the late Luther and Lula Decker Roberts' 10 combined children. She was a 1973 graduate of Crab Orchard High School and a lifelong farmer and gardener with a passion for raising all living things. In addition to her parents, Polly was preceded in death by her first husband, Bobby Dowell, and her second husband, Daniel Cummins, as well as her brothers: Floyd, Robert and Lisco Pitman, Kay, Luther Junior, Tyler and Cas Roberts. Betty was born in Lincoln County, on September 8, 1936, to the late William Naylor and Viola (White) Denney. In 1952 she married Sam Saylor and from that union came three children. Betty had worked for Cowdens Manufacturing in Stanford for several years before becoming the receptionist for the Christian Appalachian Project. Ray was a charter member of the Waynesburg, KY area rescue squad, lifelong farmer, and a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.
