Dora "Jean" Gayler, 87, of Wills Point, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2024, in Greenville, Texas. Her cremation arrangements are under the care of Hiett's LyBrand Funeral Home, with her ashes to be interred alongside her beloved husband, Dan, at White Rose Cemetery. At this time, no services are planned. Jean was born on May 17, 1937, in Canyon, Texas, to Marvin and Teena Dora (Brooks) McAtee. Raised in Canyon, she graduated from Canyon High School and went on to marry Garland Dan Gayler on April 1, 1955. Sue Ann Whitmire Starnes, 89, formerly of Tyler passed away on August 1, 2024. She attended the University of Texas at Tyler and in 1972 she began her professional career as a Social Worker and Supervisor for the Texas Department of Health and Human Services in their Canton, Tyler and Austin offices retiring in 1996. Sue was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church. She is survived by sons David W. Starnes, Beaumont, Texas; John E. Starnes, Plano, Texas and daughter Amy Starnes Winn, McKinney, Texas. Benjamin Prater Monning, III (Prater) passed away peacefully on October 26 after a brief illness. He was at his home in Wills Point, in his library, surrounded by family. Prater was born on May 24, 1951 in Dallas to Irma Adele Wynne and Benjamin Prater Monning, Jr. He grew up in Amarillo but spent summers in Wills Point where he learned to ride, fish, and work cattle from an early age. Many of the life lessons he learned working alongside Rabbit and the other cowboys shaped his character and instilled in him respect for all he encountered. James Larry Poston was born August 20, 1946 in Dallas to Bobbie and Virgil Poston, and lived a full life that celebrated family, service, and loving Jesus. He met his Lord and Savior in the early hours of Wednesday, November 17 during a restful sleep. He was helping an ill neighbor after working on his farm and delivering hay.
