He was born June 27, 1937, a native of Gaston Co, NC, son of the late Byrd and Letha Campbell. R.L. retired from textiles, he then worked at Walmart for many years. He loved to golf and hunt. Betty Sue Manning Peterson Carpenter Morton, 76, passed away Friday, August 25, 2023, at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. She was born May 24, 1947, in Charlotte, NC to the late Essie Manning Peterson. Betty was saved and baptized in 1959 to the Missionary Baptist faith. She attended Gaffney Senior High School but graduated from Gaston College in 1997 at the age of 50.
