Gerald "Barney" D. Bast Jr.,94, of Ranson, WV passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at the Martinsburg VA Community Living Center; Palliative Care and Hospice Unit. Born October 16, 1929 on the Roxbury Farm in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Gerald D. Bast Sr. and Frances Irene Cosens. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the 1st Cavalry Division of the United States Army. Barney, along with his late wife, Maryann, trained race horses for 50 years.
