Born on October 3, 1944, in Reading, England, he was the son of the late Douglas Frank and Irene Goodenough. Dr. Goodenough had a long, distinguished, academic and professional career. He moved from England to the United States in 1959 where he attended the Norwich Free Academy in Norwich, Connecticut. He received a B.S. in Physics and a Ph.D. in Medical Physics from the University of Chicago.
