LaVonne (Barlass) Dorr, age 90, peacefully passed away on what would have been her mother's birthday, January 6, 2026, at Our House Senior Living where she has resided for the past year. She was born February 21, 1935 in Janesville; she was the daughter of Andy and Audrey (Littell) Barlass. She graduated from Janesville High School and worked at Parker Pen until she married her husband of 68 years, Allen Dorr. From that time on she was a homemaker and loving mother to their three children. As a farmer's wife she worked hard to cook meals for the farm workers and her family and took great pride in having a tidy house and weedless landscaping. Charles Thomas "Chuck" Stevenson, also known to some as "Tom," age 85, of Janesville, Wisconsin, passed away on January 5, 2026, at Oak Park Place. Born July 23, 1940, Chuck was a lifelong Janesville resident known for his curiosity and his love of figuring things out. Chuck graduated from Janesville High School in 1959 and served in the Army National Guard following high school. He met his future wife, Jane Jones, in ninth grade while riding the school bus, and the two were married on August 10, 1963, at Emerald Grove Congregational UCC Church, Janesville. Edward Wayne Mitchell, age 59 of Fort Atkinson, WI, formerly of Janesville, passed away at his residence in Fort Atkinson on Friday, January 2, 2026 after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. He was born on December 5, 1966 in Prattville, AL, the son of James Edward and Della Marie (Smith) Mitchell. He grew up in Montgomery, AL and moved to Wisconsin when he was 18 years of age. Edward was employed as a service technician for Bill's Heating and Cooling, and later for Lloyd's Plumbing and Heating until health problems forced him to retire. Meredith Louise Winchel, age 86 of Janesville, WI passed away on January 1, 2026, at Javon Bea Hospital, Rockford, IL. Meredith was born in Saint Paul, MN on May 21, 1939, the daughter of David Ross and Elizabeth (Knight) Ross. She graduated from Hastings, MN High School in 1957 and furthered her education in Saint Paul to become a registered nurse. Meredith married John Engstrom on June 5, 1965. She later married Walter Winchel on September 12, 1975. After moving to Janesville, Meredith was employed as a registered nurse by the Mercy Health System, General Motors, Interim Home Health and Parkside Lodge over the years. James V. "Reggie" Hedgecock of Janesville, WI passed away at his home on December 31, 2025. He was born July 28, 1943 to William H. and Elaine (Burrington) Hedgecock. He was the youngest of six kids. According to his sister, he was a "brat". Born and raised in Janesville, he graduated from Janesville Senior High School in 1961. He then served in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1963. Upon returning to Janesville, he went to work for the Milwaukee Road railroad for 17 years and then the United States Post Office until his retirement in 2001. Colleen Mary Schroeder, 91, passed away on December 27, 2025, while residing at Willowick Assisted Living in Janesville, Wis. Colleen and her identical twin sister, Cathleen, were born April 3, 1934, to Philip and Marion Yuengst in Janesville. Colleen graduated from Janesville High School in 1953. In 1954, she married Virgil Lindsay Pope, and they had four children together: Steven (Lori) Pope, Diane (Gerald) Lehr, Kimberly (Dennis) Pope/Peabody, and Karen (Dane) Wade.
