David Lyle Barkman, of Fayetteville, NC, passed away on January 16, 2024, at the age of 76. He was born on November 27, 1947, the third of four children, in Rochester Indiana to Helen and Earl Barkman. He loved growing up on a farm in a small town where he learned the value of hard work and developed his strong sense of family. Colonel Mead was born on May 25, 1934, one of triplets, born to Otis and Emma Mead in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated from Franklin HS and was honored to be selected as a member of Boys' State.
