Phyllis Ann Twiss, 84, passed away November 27, 2023 at her home in Bothell, Washington. Phyllis was born May 25, 1939 in O'Neill, Nebraska to Stanley and Leta (Wilkinson) Kutscher. They moved to Seattle, WA when Phyllis was six months old, then to Sedro-Woolley in 1943, where she lived until she graduated from SWHS in 1957. She then moved to Seattle where she went to the University of Washington for a short time and studied business management. While going to school and working at Boeing as an Executive Secretary to support herself, she pursued her dancing career. Inavee Cargile, 82, completed her journey on this earth on November 27, 2023. She was born April 29, 1941, to Eathern and Hazel Hooper in Jackson County, North Carolina.She met the love of her life, Kenneth Cargile at Sedro-Woolley High School. They married on March 22, 1959, and were married for almost 65 years. Lawrence Edward Kapoun , better known as Larry, passed away at home in Arlington, Washington November 13, 2023. He was born August 18, 1946, in St. Paul, Minnesota, the first son of Frank and Cecilia Kapoun.After Larry graduated from White Bear Lake High School, he enlisted in the US Navy and proudly served aboard the USS Suribachi as an electrician during the Vietnam era. In 1936, the family relocated to NW Washington and settled in Monroe. Darlene graduated from Monroe High School in 1953 and attended beauty school. Gilmer Dean Hodgin, 76, of Sedro-Woolley passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at the family home. Gil was born in Franklin, NC, on October 5,1947, to Bud and Dorothy Hodgin. At six years old, the family moved to Skagit Valley, where he attended and graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School. After graduating, he began his life as a cattleman and independent logger. He was born November 15, 1943, in Winsum, Netherlands to K.D. and Jeanette (Veldman) Dykstra. When he was seven, he emigrated to the United States with his family, eventually settling in Skagit County. Henry attended schools in Sedro-Woolley and Mount Vernon, where he graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1963. Brian Leslie Ganske, age 69, a lifetime resident of Skagit Valley, passed away in Bellingham on October 27, 2023. He was born April 23, 1954 in Sedro-Woolley to Donald and Florence (Rutledge) Ganske. Brian started working at Snelson Companies, Inc. in 1969 washing vehicles. He continued to work at Snelsons and retired in 2011 as part owner of the company. Velva M. Prouty was born on December 8, 1930, in Selah, Washington. She left us on October 14, 2023. She married Edwin Webb on December 11, 1948, at which time she was already working at the Northern State Hospital. She worked there until right before they closed and went to work at United General and Mount Vernon hospitals until her retirement. Velva was very creative and sewed many things over the years and made many, many afghans as well. She loved to paint and was very good at it and was a wonderful cook.
