Roger "Tiger" Howard Bacon of Newton, Texas, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024. Born on November 29, 1960, he was raised in Newton, Texas, and graduated from Newton High School in 1979. He attended the University of Texas in Austin and was a lifelong Texas Longhorn football fan. He is preceded in death by his parents, Judge O'Neal Bacon and Sue Bacon. Jimmie David Smith, 89, passed away February 26, 2024 in Beaumont, Texas. He was born April 23, 1934 in Newton. Jimmie served in the U.S. Army and later worked at the paper mill in Elizabeth, La. and in Evadale. Jimmie Retired to Toledo Bend Lake where he fished daily and traveled when the fish were not biting. He worshiped at First Baptist Church in Hemphill before moving to Beaumont one year ago.
