Leonor Lobo Montalvo de Gonz?lez passed away on March 23, 2025 in Vero Beach, FL. She was born to Julio Lobo Olavarria and Maria Esperanza Montalvo y Lasa in Havana, Cuba on January 29, 1933. At age 13, Leonor was the first woman to climb Cuba's highest mountain, El Pico Turquino, a feat recorded in Cuba's current 4th grade reader. Leonor graduated from the Ethel Walker School, Simsbury, CT, in 1951, and graduated from Radcliffe College, Cambridge, MA in 1955 with a B.A. in English literature.
