He was born on June 5, 1933, to Rachel Mary McClurg and Leonard Scranton Platt Sr. in New York City. He grew up in Riverside, CT and attended the Brunswick School, Taft School and Williams College, class of 1955. He received a Masters in Chemical Engineering from MIT in 1957. He met Barbara (Bebe) Bellinger in Greenwich, CT and they married in 1958. Len and Bebe raised their two children, Pam and Bill, in Greenwich, later moving to South Africa. He was married to the love of his life, Carlyn Meiners Laser, for over 62 years. He helped build and then ran Cartriseal Company and then worked in many capacities at the Rexnord Corporation. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish, hunt, and skeet shoot. He adored playing golf and enjoyed playing chess with his grandson. He was fascinated by astronomy, gem faceting, and photography. She was a longtime resident of Palm City and was a former Vice President of Branch Development at First National Bank in Stuart, where she worked for 30 years. Donald W. Corby was born on April 16, 1930 in Detroit, MI and passed into Heaven to be with his beloved wife Elaine on September 26, 2021. Don lived a wonderful life. He enjoyed traveling with Elaine but most of all, he loved his family and would do anything he could to help them. Adrienne Moore, recently residing at Addington Place of Stuart, died after a brief illness on Saturday, December 5, 2020. Born in New York on April 20, 1947, she moved to the Treasure Coast in 1957 with her parents, Bill and Marie Moore. Ms Moore graduated from St. Anastasia School and Barry University. She was a reporter at WPTV Channel 5 news, followed by a 25 year career with WQCS FM at IRSC. She volunteered at multiple civic and professional organizations. Ms Moore will be laid to rest at Fernhill Cemetery in Stuart. A celebration of Life will be held in 2021. Donations can be made to Helping People Succeed and Treasure Coast Hospice.
