Edward Alfred Turnbull, 85 of Port Neches, Texas, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022 in Michigan. He is survived by six children: Edward, Randy, Mark, Michael, Christy and by adoption, grandson Joshua. Ed's life is characterized by service to God, country, family, community and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine and siblings. Sharon Jeanne Udebrock, 81 of Gaylord, passed away at home on Monday, June 14, 2021 after a long illness. Born on August 18, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of George Vernon and Shirley Jean (Schulwitz) Storer. Sharon grew up in Berkley, Michigan, graduating from Berkeley High School in 1957. She went on to attend the Carnegie Institute where she received her Associate Degree as a Certified Medical Assistant in 1977. Elizabeth Jean Clark was born on the 29th of September, 1927, to Dr. Benjamen and Virginia (Slater) Clark, in Grosse Pointe, MI. Her spirit stepped into the next dimension on June 9, 2021. Jean attended school at the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Grosse Pointe, until her freshman year, when the family relocated to CA, where her father joined the Navy to help with the war effort in WWII. She graduated high school from Holy Cross High School in Santa Cruz. After the war, the family returned to Michigan, where Jean attended the Harper Hospital School of Nursing, earning her RN degree. Hubert P. "Bert" Blom, 82 of Gaylord, passed away at home on Wednesday, June 2, 2021. Born on September 5, 1938 in Amsterdam, Holland, Bert was the son of Willem and Janna (ten Brink) Blom. Bert was a child of WWII. His family successfully hid a Jewish couple in their home for two years - until the war was over. He came to America at age 12 on a boat with his family. Bernard A. Dean, 76 of Gaylord, passed away at home on Monday, May 31, 2021. Born on February 14, 1945 in Newberry, MI he was the son of Bernard Emil and Anna Mae (Reames) Dean. On November 10, 1973 Bernie and the former Lois Beden were united in marriage. They lived in Bay City with their young family before moving to Gaylord in 1991. Bernie was a long time truck driver, hauling cement and gas for a number of years before joining USF Holland as a line haul driver. He was proud of his safe driving record, having been recognized for one million plus safe miles. Bernie and Lois enjoyed their travel together around the United States, Canada and Mexico. Born on March 21, 1942 in Flint, MI, she was the daughter of Clyde and Anna (Whitman) Spohn. As a young woman, Bonnie moved to Germany shortly after marrying her husband who was serving in the military. She later returned to Flint where she finished her education and went to work at General Motors Buick Division in data processing. Linda J. Thomas, 69 of Johannesburg, passed away Monday, May 10, 2021 at Munson Healthcare Otsego Memorial Hospital where she immediately went into the arms of Jesus. Born on September 10, 1951 in Cincinnati, OH, she was the daughter of Wilden and Betty Lou Mefford. Linda was baptized at the age of 6 years old and loved the Lord with all of her heart. Paul Martin Kucharek, 60 of Gaylord, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at McLaren Northern Michigan in Petoskey. Born on October 22, 1960 in Gaylord, Paul was the son of Frank and Anna (Swank) Kucharek. A lifelong area resident, he grew up in Gaylord and was a 1979 graduate of Gaylord High School. On June 15, 1991, Paul married Mary Ordway, his wife of nearly 30 years. They made their life together and raised their family in Gaylord.
