Roderick Joseph Nichols, 86, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2023. Rod was born on November 11, 1936, to Simeon Eugene Nichols, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Blaise Nichols in Houston, Texas. In 1959, he met the love of his life, Betty Sue Dearing and they wed in 1961. They had 2 children, Laurie and Lisa. In 1965, the family relocated from Houston, Texas to Katy, Texas and lived there for the next 42 years. Rod worked as a home builder for many years and was a talented cabinet maker and wood worker. Donald David Lofland, age 84, of Victoria, Texas, passed away on January 19, 2023 at his home with family by his side. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend to many. Donald was born in Electra, Texas to William Nathaniel "Dub" Lofland and Winnie Corder Lofland on March 25, 1938. Donald graduated from Henrietta M. King High School in Kingsville, Texas in 1957. Mario proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Victoria, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Helen Idell Friedel of Victoria, Texas died peacefully on December 31st, 2022. She was 89 years old. She was born July 13, 1933, in Yorktown, Texas to the late Charles H. Feller, Sr., and Edline Borgfeld Feller. Helen was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Victoria and was active with the Women of the Church and a variety of other ministries with the church for many years. Helen and James Louis Friedel were married on July 19, 1952, in San Diego, California while James served in the U.S. Navy. She graduated from Nordheim High School in 1951. Robert "Bob" Irwin Olin, 90, of Kerrville passed away December 29, 2022. Bob resided in Victoria from 1946-2008 and retired from VISD after 24 years where he was the Director of Vocational Education. He was born May 29, 1932 in Hobart, Indiana to Irwin B. and Martha Duthie Olin. Bob served in the U.S. Navy from 1952-1956 and was an active member of Christ the Victor Lutheran Church in Victoria. In his later years in Kerrville, Bob was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Melba M. Olin and his parents.
