Janice Ruth (Underwood) Manis, 69 of Loudon, TN, passed away Saturday December 2, 2023, at Parkwest Medical Center. She was born in Harriman, TN on March 30, 1954, to parents, Clarence and Ruth Underwood. Janice was an amazing sister to Bob, Lavina, John Billy, Ronnie, Donna, David, Danny, Doug, Daryl, and Mike. She was a graduate of Harriman High School and Roane State College. Many people knew her as Aunt Jan Jan or Mamaw. She was a loving mother, wife, sister, and friend. Brandon Lee Ledford, age 48, of Maryville, passed away on November 26, 2023. Funny, fun loving and hardworking, Brandon had worked his way into a team leadership position at DENSO. He loved his team and his job. Brandon is survived by his parents, Candy and David Chandler; brothers, Juston Ledford and Michael Chandler and his family; special nephew, Tony Ledford; uncle, Buddy Hodson and cousin, Jennifer Hodson. Dr William N. Smith was born December 13, 1924, in Smith, KY where he spent his childhood. At 17, he left home for Baltimore, MD to pursue work in an aircraft factory during the height of World War II. Soon after, he enlisted and served in the army air corps. As a radio operator on a cargo plane, he flew regularly over the Himalayas, ferrying supplies to the front lines in Asia. He was awarded several medals in recognition of the high-risk service he performed overseas. After the war, he attended Lincoln Memorial University, and remained always grateful to the "above and beyond" help he received from the professors at LMU, which enabled him on his path to medical school. Linda (Ashby) Blackburn passed from this life November 10, 2023, at the age of 79 in the loving care of her daughter and son-in-law Carla and Mark Sykes in their home in Knoxville, TN. Linda grew up in Bemis, TN and lived in Jackson, TN most of her adult life. She was a licensed alcohol and drug abuse counselor for many years. Zebulin Franklin "Frank" Rutherford, Jr. passed away on October 25, 2023 at Life Care Center of Blount County in Louisville, TN.
