Randolph "Randy" Stephen Williams, 63, passed away on June 18, 2024 in Sevierville, TN. He was born in Elizabethton, TN and raised in Rustburg, VA. Randy fought a lengthy battle with progressive aphasia (PPA), a type of frontotemporal dementia (FTD). PPA has no known cause or cure. This condition slowly damages the parts of the brain that control speech and language. PPA/FTD is a difficult disease to diagnose because it can look like Alzheimer's Disease, stroke, or even depression. The only way to obtain a confirmed diagnosis is through brain donation.
