Bill was born in Frankfort, KY on April 2, 1941 and was raised in Knoxville, TN where he graduated from Knoxville East High School. Bill then graduated from the University of Cincinnati School of Architecture and Planning in 1965 with a Master of Science degree in Architecture, was included on the Dean's List from 1963-1965 and was a member of Acacia Fraternity. Although Bill may be known by many as the designer of the iconic Sunsphere for the 1982 World's Fair, those closest to him knew him for his love of Jesus, his family, dogs, and cars. Lt. Harold Dan Harris (U.S. Navy Retired). Dan Harris 87 of Jonesborough, formerly of Kodak and Cleveland, Tennessee, died unexpectedly at his home on April 3, 2022. The son of Louis and Ruby Lea Harris, Dan was born in Rome, Georgia in 1935, and spent his childhood on a farm in Rainsville, Alabama. He enlisted in the Navy as an E-1, seaman recruit, worked his way up to E8, then Chief Petty Officer, Chief Warrant Officer, Ensign, Lieutenant JG and Lieutenant. He followed in the footsteps of his father and started working construction jobs before he could even drive. After high school he worked as a carpenter for John Martin Construction of Chattanooga on projects like the Maclellan Building remodel downtown, and the Round House at UTC.
