Ethel Rhae (Mackey) Kirk, 84, of Eaton, CO formerly of New Mexico and Nevada, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2023, at her daughter's home with her family at her side. She was born November 6, 1939, in Silver City, NM to Raymond Harold and Addie Ethel (Corn) Mackey. She met her husband, Michael David Kirk while on a school bus in Hillsboro, NM. They later married on April 5, 1956, in New Mexico. Ethel followed her husband to Fort Collins, Colorado where she worked for CSU as secretary to the dean of Civil Engineering while her husband pursued his degree in veterinary medicine. Herbert Rodman "Rod" Williams, 91, of Greeley passed away October 23, 2023 at NCMC in Greeley. He was born August 13, 1932 in Hutchinson, KS to George Fred and Beatrice Ellen (Tinsley) Williams and grew up on the family farm in Partridge, KS. Rod graduated from Partridge High School and earned a Bachelor and Masters from Kansas State University. He married Sandra Marie Thompson on July 22, 1958 in Prairie Village, KS. Rod worked as an Extension Agent for Morton County, KS and was awarded with a State certification. He enjoyed camping and fishing, reading and in later years learned how to crochet from Sandra. Virginia was born November 27, 1925 to Edgar James and Sarah (Ericsson) Elam. Virginia's father owned Elam Mercantile in Milliken, Colorado. Her mother helped with the store leaving Virginia's grandmother, Florence Ericsson, to care for her. Virginia grew up in the town of Milliken. Virginia had two older siblings; her brother, E.J. and her sister, Florence. During her high school years, World War II broke out, and many of the boys in her class joined the service leaving only 18 to graduate in 1943. Charles "Charlie" R. Morgan, 77, of Greeley passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 20. 2023 at his home surrounded by family and good friends. He was born in Gadsden, AL to James and Mae (Hohnstein) Morgan and at the age of one, the family moved to Hastings, NE. Charlie graduated from Hastings Senior High School and received his Bachelors in accounting and business from Kearney State College. Irene was the eldest of 8 children of immigrant Germans from Russia, Henry and Marie (Schnell) Rusch. She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on June 10, 1927. The family moved to Oklahoma in 1933 then relocated to Minatare, Nebraska in the early 1940's to farm and this is where Irene met Harold Drieth. Sam Funakoshi, 88, of Fort Lupton passed away at Platte Valley Medical Center in Brighton. He was born November 12, 1934 in Fort Lupton to Hirokichi Ota-Funakoshi and Tatsu Funakoshi where he was raised and graduated high school. Sam was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1957, serving until his honorable discharge on March 14, 1959. On August 18, 1962, Sam married Frances Reiko Tsukamoto at the Simpson Methodist Church in Denver. Sam worked on the family farm before serving in the Army and then returned home where he joined his father on the farm again. Hugh Frederick Elliott died on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at the age of 102 in Greeley, Colorado. He was born to Mary Irene (White) and Hugh Henry Elliott in Rutland, Vermont on July 6, 1920. Hugh and his sister Ruth grew up in Cavendish, Vermont and, after his father's death and a family move to Rutland, he attended and graduated from Rutland High School. Shortly thereafter, he graduated from Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vt. Marilyn Jane Goehry Jensen was born January 30, 1932, in Grant, Neb. to George and Mabel (Franke) Goehry on the Franke family farm. She passed away peacefully on November 1, 2021 in Colorado. One of four children, she attended grade school in Ogalalla, Neb. before the family moved to Edgewater, Colo. in 1940.
