She graduated from Honea Path High School in 1953 and soon married her beloved husband, Freddy Major, who preceded her in death after 62 years of marriage. Together, along with their son, they continued the tradition of working the family farm. Shirley was the bookkeeper for Major Farms and enjoyed working alongside her granddaughter-in-law, Emma, in this capacity over the past several years.
