Charles Rayburn Parks, 72, of Houston, MS passed away at his home Saturday, March 23, 2024. Rayburn was born in Houston to Thomas A. and Allene Brock Parks. He was the youngest of three brothers. Rayburn spent his early years in Van Vleet and graduated from Houston High School. He continued his education at Delta State University. Rayburn was owner of Parks and Parks Well Service and Parks Exploration where he was a third generation driller. A passionate supporter of his community, he was involved in various community associations such as Chickasaw Development Foundation, Exchange Club, and PACE Foundation. Coach Lanny Gooch, age 81, passed away at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo on February 10, 2024. He was born July 20, 1942 in Toccopola, MS to Carlos Trent Gooch and Clara Mae Walker Gooch. He was a member of First Methodist Church, Houston and a retired basketball coach. Gooch graduated from Toccopola High School, Itawamba Jr. College and the University of Mississippi earning B.A. and M.E. degrees. He began his career as an assistant coach at Yocona High School in Lafayette County and moved to Houston in 1966 to coach junior high basketball.
